| “Impressions"
is the way I would best describe my painting because I try to
capture moments in time on canvas using light and color. I love light. I love the way it sparkles and defines the
abstract qualities of figures and shapes.
And I’m fascinated with color – the intensity of it –
the ability to set mood with it – the ability to
define space with it. These are the qualities I try
to bring into my painting. |

I enjoy working in all the
mediums – oil, pastel, watercolor and acrylic and I
find that the change of pace keeps my work fresh and continually
evolving in new directions.
I especially enjoy painting cityscapes where people
play a major part in the scene and landscapes en
plein air when the weather permits.
After receiving some basic education at Ringling School of
Art in Sarasota, Florida I became essentially a
self-taught artist. I
also learn a great deal from observing other artists,
though, and in recent years I’ve had the privilege of taking
a number of workshops from the local professionals
at the Art Students League of Denver including
Doug Dawson, Kim English, Quang Ho
In addition to its fine teaching staff, Colorado
is also blessed with many wonderful art associations
of which I am a member. It’s
been an honor to participate in many of their juried
shows.
